Peter Spencer

Head Teacher

Peter Spencer joins us with 27 years of experience working in schools throughout the UK. Before entering teaching, he worked in industry, working as a resource manager and buyer for the Health Service and also for a haulage contractor. He achieved a high-Level qualification in Business and Finance from the University of Derby and a Degree in Business from University of the West of England in Bristol.

He began his career as a teacher of Business and Economics in England, building a reputation for engaging student-centered teaching and guiding pupils to achieve excellent results. His talents were quickly spotted and within two years he was promoted to a whole school Leadership role.  Three years later he was further promoted to being in charge of a large faculty.

After 7 years of teaching Pete was promoted to his first Senior Leader role in Wales.  In the role he had the whole school responsibility for pupil achievement, assessment and pupil achievement.  His innovative work supporting pupils from disadvantaged backgrounds won national acclaim and resulted in him receiving a coveted National Welsh Schools Award. During this time, he trained to become a headteacher, completing the NPQH qualification. He blossomed as a leader and after 4 years he was appointed as Deputy Headteacher to the largest school in the country, based in Cardiff.

In 2008 he was appointed to his first Headship of a secondary school of approximately 1000. After three successful years he moved to take his second headship of a large brand-new purpose-built school of 1600, which also included a dedicated Special needs resource base.  In both his headships he led his schools to achieve their best ever results.

Peter also trained and qualified as a School Inspector and has inspected schools.  He has also worked as an international education consultant.

Outside school, he is a father of two grown up boys and is very keen on sports. He enjoys keeping fit and is an avid Manchester United supporter.  He was a talented cricketer and played at semi-professional level.  He loves travelling, especially in Egypt.
