Prospect parents are more than welcome to visit the school during the school hours, the admissions team are always happy to provide the school tour (when applicable), however it is preferable to call and book an appointment in advance. Please contact the admissions team.

An application starts with the online application form, which requires several documents along with the submission of form. If your application is accepted, your child will be invited for an interview and assessment at our school. If your child passes this stage, you will be provided with an offer to become part of the Ethos community.

After submitting the online admissions application form, you will receive an email confirming that the application is active or requesting that supporting documents be resubmitted. Only after all of the required supporting documents have been received will your application be activated. Only active applications are taken into account.

Tuition Fees for academic year 2020/2021:

No, books, activities and resources fees are not included in the tuition fees. Amount and due dates are defined at the beginning of the academic year.

Children applying to Foundation Stage 1 should be 4 years by 1st October.

• Foundation Stage: a maximum of 22 pupils per class.
• Key Stage 1 – 4: a maximum of 25 pupils per class.

School starts first week of September and last day of school is by the end of June.

School doors open at the 7:45 a.m. School hours are as follows for our pupils:

• Foundation Stage: 08:00 to 03:00 (except Wednesdays 08:00 to 12:50)
• Key Stage 1 & 2: 08:00 to 03:00
• Key Stage 3: 08:00 to 03:10

EIS is committed to promoting healthy nutrition and encourages parents to provide healthy, balanced and nutritious packed snacks/lunches for their child to eat during break times. Foundation Stage Parents may choose to enroll their children in our termly meal plan. Pupils from Year 1 upwards can purchase food from the school canteen, which provides a range of healthy hot and cold meals, freshly prepared on site every day. Parents must purchase food vouchers from the Finance Office in advance to give to their children on a daily basis.

Open to current EIS Pupils & New EIS Applicants – Ethos International School seeks to encourage all-around educational excellence by providing merit scholarships to highly deserving pupils.

• Library: Classified by the Dewey Decimal System, our libraries cover significant space and include all genres of books. Our pupils have the liberty to choose books either for leisure or academic use.
• Science Labs: Science laboratories are state of the art and are equipped with science equipment, internet, and projectors for all Key Stage pupils; they are also monitored by full-time technicians to ensure safety.
• Football and other courts: Our Physical Education curriculum offers a wide range of sport activities, using our Football field and our multi-purpose, hard surface court. Pupils are also encouraged to take part in school teams and compete in school tournaments. School courts are used extensively during the school day and for after-school activities.
• Computer Labs: With full-time operating internet connectivity, our Computer lab is designed to support our pupils’ interactive learning through access to online workbooks and worksheets. The school system will be operated by our IT technicians and support facilities.
• Cafeteria: We believe that the quality of food highly affects a child’s behaviour, performance and learning ability, consequently the offerings of the school cafeteria promote health and proper nutrition.
• Playgrounds: Our school playgrounds are designed with respect to physical ability, age and developmental appropriateness, and sensory-stimulating activity to provide a safe environment for a play setting.

The school will offer a variety of extra-curricular activities for KS 1 and 2/3 and it is mandatory that all pupils participate. ECAs will not be offered to FS pupils. Activities are well- structured and provide opportunities for physical, mental, global and social development.

The aim of our Character Education Program is to develop in all pupils’ core ethical and moral values in order to help pupils become caring, responsible and contributing citizens. The philosophy of Character Education at Ethos is to create a balance between mind and heart through developing pupils “performance traits”; those that support strong performance, and “moral traits”; those that support strong, honest, and healthy relationships. Character education includes a broad range of educational approaches such as whole child education, service learning, social-emotional learning, civic education and aims to promote a core set of universally acknowledged values. Pupils focus on one specific value every month. Skills needed to effectively practice and apply each value are taught during the Character Education weekly lessons.

EIS provides safe, efficient and reliable bus services to all pupils. The school organizes monitors and takes immediate action to safeguard pupils and ensure they are comfortable and safe at all times. As one of our main priorities at Ethos is pupils’ safety, “Tracking Application” is now available at Ethos International School; whereas the school transportation office and parents can track the pupil’s route the minute he/she sets his/her foot in the bus. All buses are air conditioned, equipped with functioning seatbelts and all necessary safety tools. First Aid kits are available on all our buses as well. Areas covered: El Sheikh Zayed City, 6th October, Hadayek El Ahram, Mohandesin and Agouza.

EIS recognizes the importance of trips for the educational, social and moral development of children. School trips are an integral part of the curriculum and are extensions of learning in the classroom. School trips are designed to stimulate pupil interest by connecting learning with experiences outside of the classroom environment. Trips can be sports related, historical, cultural, for scientific purposes or of a geographic interest. Identity trips, exposed to every site pertained to identity (pupils visit locations representing our identity so they get the chance by year 9 to get exposed to most of Egypt’s historical and cultural sites.)

We are committed to attracting, selecting and retaining teachers who will successfully and positively contribute to EIS’s core values and make learning a lively and fulfilling experience for our students. We are committed to ensuring the recruitment and selection of all teachers is conducted in a manner that is systematic, efficient, effective and promotes equality of opportunity. We have a set of educational and experience requirements teachers must meet before being selected for a panel interview and where applicable skill testing such as lesson observation.

The school believes that home-school communication is vital to the healthy development of pupils. There are a variety of channels available to ensure that parents are kept up to date and involved in their child’s education. The school’s main channel of communication is Engage. Parents are requested to check their engage account regularly. Communication using personal phones between parents and teachers is forbidden. Parents can send a notice directly to class/specialist teachers and the Junior School Office. Teachers will answer emails within 48 hours. Urgent calls should go via the Junior School Office.

Parents receive one written report per year which includes feedback as well as targets for the child. Parent-teacher conferences are offered in the first two terms and parents can meet with class teachers throughout the school year by prior arrangement.

Students are required to wear a full child friendly uniform which consists of orange tops and dark grey pants/skirts with EIS Logo. Uniforms are available for sale from the school shop during school hours, it will open for purchase of items for the next academic year during the summer holiday. Prices will depend upon chosen options and your child’s size.

EIS accepts pupils starting in Preschool up to Year 10. By 2020, will start to deliver the full IGCSE programme and by 2022, we will be operating up to Year 12 and can offer A level courses to our pupils.

Pupils are expected to work independently, with minimal parental guidance, as this sets good habits for the future, and establishes self-discipline, responsibility and strong work ethics. The time allotted for homework will increase as pupils’ progress through school. Parents must inform the class teacher if their child experiences difficulty with homework. We expect our pupils to abide by the guidelines, due dates and homework schedules provided by their teachers. Pupils who do not complete homework will receive a comment via Engage for parents to follow up on, and will remain with their class teacher during their first break/Second break to complete the work. Persistent issues regarding homework will be investigated and referred to the Head of Key Stage.

Ethos Academy is established under the umbrella of Ethos for Educational Services, where pupils take part in extracurricular activities outside the class time. The aim of these activities is to boost their intellectual, physical and social development.

Pupils have the opportunity to choose studying either French or German starting Year 3.
